The Internet Society is inviting applications for the 2026 Youth Ambassadors Program, a prestigious and highly competitive initiative that empowers 15 exceptional young leaders each year. This program is designed for emerging changemakers who are passionate about digital inclusion, Internet governance, technology policy, and safeguarding an open, globally connected Internet.

Selected ambassadors gain in-depth knowledge, hands-on skills, and invaluable global exposure, positioning them to actively contribute to shaping the future of the Internet. Through expert-led training, high-level mentorship, and participation in major international Internet governance events, youth ambassadors are equipped to influence policy discussions, advocate for digital rights, and lead impactful initiatives in their local and global communities.

This is more than a learning opportunity—it’s a platform to amplify your voice, connect with influential stakeholders, and join a global network of innovators committed to building a safer, more inclusive digital world.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be 18–30 years old at the time of application.
  • Demonstrate strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Be confident in public speaking and presenting ideas.
  • Have reliable Internet access and the necessary equipment throughout the program.
  • Commit at least 4 hours per week during the 12-month program.
  • Be available for weekly virtual sessions held between 11:00–16:00 UTC.
  • Be able to travel internationally and possess a valid passport.
  • Not have previously participated as an Internet Society IGF Ambassador, IGF Youth Ambassador, Youth @IGF Fellow, or Youth Ambassador.

You’ll learn how to advocate effectively for Internet-related issues within your community and on international platforms.
  • Attend a major Internet governance event, tailored to your interests, profile, and region. Represent your community on the global stage by participating in a high-level Internet governance forum or conference. This event—selected specifically based on your background and aspirations—provides firsthand exposure to multi stake holder dialogues, cutting-edge policy discussions, and networking opportunities with global decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with high-level stakeholders across the international Internet ecosystem. Engage directly with influential actors including policymakers, technologists, civil society leaders, technical community members, and private-sector representatives. These interactions help you understand diverse perspectives and contribute to real-world conversations about the Internet’s evolution.
  • Receive personalized mentorship from renowned Internet experts. Work closely with experienced professionals who guide you through the complexities of Internet governance, offer career advice, and support your personal and professional development. This mentorship is tailored to your goals and helps you refine your vision as a future leader.
