Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a globally recognised humanitarian organisation and co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, is recruiting an experienced Global Remote Sensing Manager to join its international team.
This role presents a rare opportunity for a skilled geospatial and remote sensing professional to apply Earth Observation (EO), GIS, and drone-based technologies to life-saving humanitarian operations. The successful candidate will support mine action, weapons and ammunition management, and post-conflict recovery programmes across multiple countries.

About the Role
As Global Remote Sensing Manager, you will provide both strategic and technical leadership to strengthen MAG’s use of geospatial technologies across its global programmes.
You will lead research and innovation initiatives that expand the practical application of remote sensing, GIS, Earth Observation data, and unmanned aerial systems within Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM). The role bridges innovation, operations, and partnerships, with a strong focus on translating complex data into real-world humanitarian impact.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement innovative geospatial tools and methodologies to enhance operational planning and field effectiveness
- Lead research and development initiatives focused on EO data and drone-based solutions
- Design and refine operational use cases and standard operating procedures for remote sensing applications
- Integrate environmental and contextual analysis to support sustainable and responsible programming
- Build and maintain partnerships with research institutions, technical experts, and operational partners
- Contribute to MAG’s growing knowledge base on humanitarian innovation and remote sensing
- Communicate complex geospatial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Your work will directly inform operational decision-making and help MAG deliver safer, faster, and more effective humanitarian interventions.
About You
MAG is seeking a highly motivated professional with strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach.
Essential skills and experience include:
- Proven expertise in remote sensing systems and GIS software, including data processing, analysis, visualisation, and machine learning techniques
- Demonstrated experience managing geospatial or remote sensing projects from concept to operational delivery
- Ability to develop practical tools, workflows, and standard operating procedures for real-world use
- A degree in geospatial science, remote sensing, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong project management and report-writing skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights
- Capacity to work independently in a remote, international setting
Candidates must be willing and able to travel internationally for approximately 30% of working time, including to challenging or post-conflict environments.
