HelpAge International is seeking a Network Development Associate to support and strengthen its growing network of partners across Africa. This role is ideal for a highly organised professional with strong communication skills and experience in network coordination within international development or humanitarian contexts.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engagement and Platform Support (50%)

  • Strengthen communication and coordination between HelpAge and its network members in collaboration with the Network Platform Manager, Regional Advisers, and Thematic Advisers
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and peer learning across the network
  • Support the curation, management, and regular updating of the HelpAge Network Platform, including administrative backend and first-line user support
  • Organise thematic sessions, webinars, peer-learning events, and cross-network exchanges
  • Support the development of newsletters and other communications materials for members and stakeholders
  • Assist with member applications, onboarding, and induction processes
  • Maintain accurate member records and mailing lists on HelpAge CONNECT and SharePoint
  • Coordinate Network Development Team meetings

Administrative and Coordination Support (20%)

  • Provide coordination support to Regional Advisers, including mapping and strengthening member capacities
  • Support the organisation of regional workshops, meetings, and seminars, including logistics and coordination
  • Assist with translations for communications and collaborative activities
  • Strengthen internal communication flows between Regional Advisers, the Network Platform Manager, and technical teams
  • Collect feedback and engagement data to support continuous improvement

Communications Support (15%)

  • Support the development of communications materials highlighting the work and impact of regional network members
  • Manage and update regional social media channels in coordination with the Communications Team
  • Collect case studies, stories, and content from members, partners, and programme teams
  • Produce regionally relevant communications materials that encourage member participation and visibility
  • Facilitate effective communication across regions and with the wider global network

Thematic Support (15%)

  • Provide logistical and coordination support to Thematic Advisers for workshops, meetings, and learning events
  • Coordinate with network members to gather content and inputs for thematic learning sessions
  • Support member engagement in thematic learning groups, including agenda planning, follow-ups, and reminders
  • Assist with the coordination of thematic campaigns and awareness initiatives

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in network coordination, member engagement, or administrative support, preferably in international development, civil society, or humanitarian settings
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with digital collaboration and data visualisation tools
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise content
  • Experience supporting online events, webinars, and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Basic design and editing skills; familiarity with Canva, WordPress, and Mailchimp is an advantage
  • Experience producing newsletters and managing social media channels
  • Ability to write news updates and articles in English
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for digital platforms and user access issues
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience working in cross-cultural environments
  • High levels of discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
