The African Development Bank (AfDB) is now accepting applications for the Young Professionals Program (YPP) 2026 — one of the continent’s most competitive and highly respected leadership development programs. Location
Primary duty station: AfDB Headquarters, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
However, participants may also be assigned to other locations across Africa or field offices as determined by the Bank’s operational needs.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the 2026 cycle, candidates must:
- Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Development Studies, Engineering, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related disciplines).
- Be a national of an AfDB member country.
- Possess strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate commitment to Africa’s development and an interest in international development work.
- Typically be 32 years of age or younger at the time of application (as per previous cycles).
Programme Duration: 3 Years
During the 3-year rotational programme, Young Professionals will:
Work Across Multiple Departments
Gain exposure through structured rotations across different AfDB departments, helping participants understand the Bank’s operations from multiple perspectives.
Receive Intensive Leadership & Technical Training
Participate in world-class training modules, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives curated by AfDB experts and global partners.
Engage in High-Level Development Projects
Contribute to mission-critical initiatives in priority areas such as climate resilience, infrastructure development, digital transformation, gender equality, financial inclusion, and sustainable economic growth.
Benefit from Mentorship & Coaching
Work closely with senior leaders, technical specialists, and career mentors to grow professionally and personally.
Develop a Pan-African & Global Network
