The Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) of the European Commission is responsible for delivering emergency assistance to people affected by natural disasters and armed conflicts outside the European Union. Through its humanitarian aid mandate, DG ECHO partners with more than 200 operational organizations, including United Nations agencies, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and numerous international and local NGOs.

DG ECHO ensures that assistance reaches those most in need impartially, without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, political affiliation, or nationality. Aid is provided solely on the basis of humanitarian principles and the needs of affected populations.

DG ECHO is now inviting applications for the position of Logistics Support Agent, a national position based in Kabul, Afghanistan. This opportunity is open to Afghan nationals as well as residents of Afghanistan who hold valid work and residence permits.

Position Overview: Logistics Support Agent

The Logistics Support Agent plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of DG ECHO’s Kabul office. The job holder will manage and execute a wide range of upkeep, maintenance, administrative, and logistical tasks to ensure the effective day-to-day running of office operations.

This is a dynamic position requiring professionalism, reliability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Knowledge & Experience

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in administration, logistics, procurement, protocol, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience driving 4-wheel-drive vehicles, with a proven record of safe driving. Experience within the local sub-region is a strong asset.
  • Basic understanding of administrative and procurement procedures (e.g., purchase orders, service contracts, goods procurement).
  • Prior experience working with a governmental entity, international organization, or NGO is highly advantageous.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively in a multicultural work setting.
  • Strong multitasking capabilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of communication tools such as radio systems and GPS is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and general computer literacy.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent command of Pashto and/or Dari in writing and conversation.
  • Candidates fluent in both national languages will be given preference.

Employment Conditions
  • The position begins with a one-year contract, renewable based on performance and operational needs.
  • A three-month probationary period applies, after which renewal is conditional upon a positive evaluation.
  • The indicative monthly basic salary is approximately EUR 1,684, corresponding to an applicant with three years of relevant work experience.
    • Final salary will be adjusted based on verified years of experience supported by work certificates.

  • Salaries are subject to local taxation in accordance with Afghan law.
